Poona elections
The much delayed election of trustees to the Poona Parsi Panchayat are scheduled to be held on Sunday, October 20 this year, states a WhatsApp message from trustee Yezdi Motiwalla. He was the only member of the short lived seven member board elected on March 13, 2022 who did not resign. The six seats have been vacant since November 2022. Motiwalla says he intends to stand for reelection
"We would like to inform you that a cheque of ₹2,00,000/- has been submitted, along with a letter, to open a bank account in the name of the Election Officer appointed through the Charity Commissioner Court,” stated Motiwalla. "The tentative date for the election has been proposed as 20th October 2024. Please note that this is preliminary information, and further details will be communicated in due course.”
