Trustees of the Parsi Punchayet Bombay (BPP) and the Jamshed and Shirin Guzder Trust (through the BPP) have four scholarships each called the Dr Dadabhai Naoroji Scholarships. These scholarships of Rs 2,000 each per annum are for Parsi/Irani Zoroastrian boys and girls who secure 80% and above in any recognized Std X examination in March 2023.
The two BPP scholarships are reserved preferably for students who have taken up arts, whereas the other two are open to students from any faculty. Eligibility criteria are the same for all four scholarships. Proof of admission for joining a college from July 2023 will have to be produced by the applicants.
Awardees who continue to achieve excellence during subsequent academic years will be eligible, on application, to receive the scholarship year after year until they graduate.
The family of the late Sapur and Tehmina Desai and the BPP have initiated two scholarships of Rs 10,000 each for Parsi / Irani Zoroastrian students. Those pursuing graduation in any stream who have secured highest overall percentage from any recognized Std X examination passed in March 2023 would receive Rs 2,000 p.a. from Std. XI to completion of graduation, provided the candidate continues to achieve first class results throughout. The second scholarship is for students pursuing postgraduation studies in any stream who have secured highest overall percentage in March 2023. This would mean Rs 5,000 p.a. for two years. Selection for these scholarships would be based on need-cum-merit.
The J.R.D. Tata Scholarships, of Rs 5,000 each for first and second year respectively for postgraduate studies in social science, population study, nuclear/geophysics, mathematics, education, cancer research and microbiology, have been instituted by the BPP and Jamshed and Shirin Guzder Trust for Parsi/Irani Zoroastrian students, subject to continued good performance of the student in the first postgraduate year.
