An urgent medical appeal has been received from the cousins of 65-year-old Ervad Dinyar Vajifdar who has been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a malignancy of the plasma cells of the bone marrow. He was admitted to Bombay Hospital and Medical Research Centre for tests and treatment on May 6, 2024 and discharged on May 28.
The treatment is expected to extend over a year requiring frequent hospitalization, alternating weekly day care sessions for chemotherapy and finally stem cell transplant. The total expenses are estimated to be in the region of Rs 1,15,00,000 (USD 137,865).
For the recent hospitalization Vajifdar was covered up to Rs 10,00,000 (USD 13,333) from his son Firdaus Vajifdar’s medical insurance policy as a dependent parent. The outstanding amount of Rs 3,90,000 (USD 4,675) was paid by The WZO (World Zoroastrian Organisation) Trust Funds directly to the Hospital from the emergency surplus medical funds.
Dinyar is a full-time priest practicing since the last 10 years at the Seth B. M. Mevawala Agiary at Byculla, Bombay. His current salary is Rs 51,000 (USD 611) per month.
Support for Dinyar may please be extended by way of donations to The WZO Trust Funds thas has been requested by his relatives to receive and disburse funds directly to the hospital, laboratories where various tests will be done, and to the chemists.
