The Mosaic Hut, Geeta Cooper’s artistic venture will be making a selection of her hand made mosaic asho farohars available for viewing on October 21 and 22, 2011 at Eden Hall, 15th Floor, B-Wing, Worli, Bombay 400025 between 4 and 7 p.m.
Cooper explains: "Creating mosaic is my way of making sense of the complex and chaotic world we live in... I work mostly in monochromatic color schemes and am very deliberate about the harmonization of the hues, shades and tints. In shaping the various tesserae (pieces of tiles or other similar material) I can manipulate their texture and appearance, and then I work diligently with the fit and ease of the pieces as they touch and transition from one to the other to create movement and flow. Putting together bits of color and texture... I assemble each work one piece at a time... Mosaic is mesmerizing and it is a lot like life; lots of pain and hard work, choice, judgment, magic, frustration, coordination, shaping, fitting, adhering, beauty, joy, quality, effort and above all perfectionism.”

Cooper claims that she can create any design within a stipulated time frame and has been designing one-of-a-kind mosaic art pieces since 2002, mostly commissioned by friends. Now she wishes to "open myself up to the world” with The Mosaic Hut. Though she has created many designs, the current collection is of asho farohars. The UK born artist (née Dabysing) who grew up in Mauritius met her husband Carl in 2000 on her "island in the sun.” They now live in Bombay with their six-year-old daughter Zara, notes a press release received by Parsiana.
