The Coonoor based Kinder Trust has expanded its operations with the launch of its "Kindness Rehab Centre of Excellence in Nilgiris” at Naduhatty, Coonoor, as per a press note received by Parsiana on September 22, 2024. It was inaugurated on September 19 by Rishi Bhatnagar, India president of the donor engineering company Regal Rexnord.
Diana Bharucha, founder and managing trustee of the Kinder Trust, called the new facility their most ambitious project. "This state-of-the-art facility represents a significant expansion of the Trust’s operations, building on the success of its original rehabilitation center in Vannerpet which currently assists 30 patients (pediatrics to geriatrics) and trains 20 persons at their skill development center daily,” stated a press note that Bharucha sent us.

"Our old center is about nine kilometers away… It was an old shut-down government school which we were allowed to use on a temporary basis. The new center is on our own premises at the junction of Ooty, Coonoor and Kotagiri, with 22 rooms and large open space,” Bharucha communicated to Parsiana.
The new center offers comprehensive and free rehabilitation services to people with disabilities and a range of neurological disorders, detailed the note. Services to be provided include customized physiotherapy, occupational therapy, psychotherapy and speech therapy; surgical and medical assistance including free consultations, life-saving medications, cardiac surgeries; support for remedial procedures, including cancer treatments; and educational support for individuals with disabilities to pursue their educational goals and skill development. "A key feature of the new center will be the daily availability of a specialist doctor for free consultations, ensuring patients receive the highest standard of medical care.”
Speaking at the event Bharucha said, "This new center is a dream come true for us and for the people of the Nilgiris… We believe that everyone, regardless of their circumstances, deserves access to quality healthcare and the chance to live a dignified life despite having a disability.”
The day also saw the flagging off of an electric powered auto-rickshaw donated by the corporate social responsibility arm of information technology company Microland through their trustee Kalpana Kar.
