Entrepreneur and philanthropist Ronnie Screwvala, has donated one crore rupees to the armed forces on Army Day (January 15, 2019). Citing the military’s massive contribution and sacrifice for our country, he stated, "It is humbling to make this donation,” reported the mid-day (MD) of January 16. The founder of RSVP Movies said, "We take each day for granted, and yet, these brave women and men in the army, navy and air force stay committed and are resolute to protect us. They are the true inspiration for modern-day India, and we need to draw examples from the selfless lives that they lead.”

RSVP’s 2019 release Uri: The Surgical Strike is a dramatized account of the retaliation to the attack by four heavily armed militants in September 2016, near the town of Uri in Jammu and Kashmir. It was reportedly the deadliest attack on security forces in Kashmir in two decades. The MD report ascribed the one crore rupees by Screwvala to "the impact of his association as producer on the recently released Uri.”
Screwvala has made a reentry into the entertainment world via RSVP. In 2012, he sold his stake in UTV Software Communications, the media and entertainment conglomerate founded by him.
