Community activist lawyer Khushru Zaiwala has reportedly moved the Charity Commissioner’s (CC) office for a copy of the agreement entered into between The B. D. Petit Parsee General Hospital (PGH) managing committee and the Medanta Group that is contracted to run a cosmopolitan hospital to be built in the Hospital complex. Pervin and Jal Shroff of Hong Kong had donated Rs 150 crores for setting up the new hospital, the profits from which will subsidize the PGH.
"The trustees have gotten into an agreement, but are not willing to divulge details of the contract. The property is worth more than Rs 2,000 crore, and here they have given off the management contract for two crore deposit and four crore bank guarantee,” Zaiwalla is quoted as saying, "Public trust laws in India prohibit trustees from dealing in secrecy and trustees are bound to give a copy of all trust documents, when asked for by the beneficiaries.”
