In your editorial "The quality of mercy” (Parsiana, February 7-20, 2025) about Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde, leader of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington D.C., you have showed that once again it is a woman who has had the courage in speaking out about US President Donald Trump’s policies. The men are missing from the moral fray in this age as a buffoon and a bully again puts "ugly” alongside "American.” The ranks of opportunists, careerists and sycophants are heavy with the male of the species.
Budde was speaking in Washington’s National Cathedral directly to the controversial new president at an inaugural prayer service. She urged Trump to desist from the variety of harsh measures he is taking and has vowed to take against unfavored sections of society such as undocumented immigrants and members of the gay, lesbian, and transgender community. The prayer service at the Cathedral is a political tradition in the US.
