The Thana Parsi Zoroastrian Anjuman (TPZA) hosted New Year and Khordad Sal (the Prophet’s birthday) with a khushali nu jashan (joyful thanksgiving prayer ceremony) and a celebratory dinner attended by 50 members and their guests at the city’s Cowasji Patell Agiary on August 20, 2024. The jashan was performed by Ervads Kersi Sidhwa, Mehernosh Dastoor, Darayus Karanjia and Sarosh Kamdin.

While most of TPZA’s programs are held in the compound of the Agiary, courtesy the trustees of the Thana Agiary Fund, because of the rains this function is generally held in a restaurant. This year a new restaurant, Sheetal Grillé (Ginger Hotel) was selected, explained TPZA vice president Percy Karani.
Cash prizes were given by TPZA trustees to young scholars who had achieved academic milestones during the year at the school, graduation and master’s level. TPZA joint secretary Dilshad Mistry conducted a number of fun games like treasure hunt and housie that kept all engaged.
Other committee members are president Zarsis Udhnawalla, secretary Pouruchisti Meherhomji, treasurer Dara Wadia, joint treasurer Khurshed Pastakia and trustees Khurshid Battiwala and Monaz Kolah.
