“Remembrance with…”

I was pleased to read about Khurshedji Bapa, after whom Khurshed Hall in Navsari has been named ("Remembrance with reverence,” Readers’ Forum, Parsiana, August 21-September 6, 2024). He was the doyen of Navsari and had made a large contribution towards the consecration of the Navsari Atash Behram in 1765. He was an Avestan scholar, as was his son Jal Pavri who studied Oriental subjects in the US. Khurshedji’s elder daughter was married to Jamshed Naoroji Dastur who was a solicitor. Along with Nusserwanji Sethna he had passed out in the first batch of solicitors under the Incorporated Law Society. Khurshedji’s second daughter, Bapsy, became the first Indian marchioness when she married the Marquis of Winchester.                          B. T. DASTUR dasturbehram@gmail.com ...
