While it is true that non-Parsis are not permitted to enter the prayer halls at Doongerwadi, the pavilions — for the repairs of which MLA (Member of the Legislative Assembly) Mangal Prabhat Lodha made a donation of Rs 10 lakhs — are in regular use by non-Parsis as well, who come to pay their last respects to their departed friends (see "Thankful for the help,” Readers’ Forum, Parsiana, September 21, 2011).
It is Lodha who may be answerable for the use of his MLA’s funds; why are my brethren agitated when we are the beneficiaries? When Parsis have done — and continue to do — so much for all communities, why should it hurt our ego if we stand to gain something once in a while, so long as there are no strings attached?
