The Parsi Zoroastrian Anjuman of Secunderabad and Hyderabad (PZASH) has withdrawn its membership from the Federation of the Parsi Zoroastrian Anjumans of India (FPZAI), according to the PZASH newsletter of August 19, 2011.
No reason was stated for the withdrawal. A letter written by Parsiana to PZASH president Goolbanu Chinoy inquiring into the reasons for the abrupt withdrawal has received no response to date. Kerfegar Antia, one of PZASH’s trustees and vice president of FPZAI was abroad when Parsiana phoned his office on September 20, 2011. He is expected to return on September 29.
According to sources it is believed that some PZASH trustees were unhappy with the resolutions passed by FPZAI at its October 9 and 10, 2010 meeting. The three resolutions supported the Bombay Parsi Punchayet (BPP) action in barring the two so-called "renegade” priests from performing religious ceremonies at Doongerwadi and two agiaries managed by the BPP, condemned Meher Master Moos for facilitating the navar ceremony of Russian Zoroastrian Mikhail Chistyakov and supported the WZO (World Zoroastrian Organisation)-India faction whose links to the WZO-UK have been severed by the parent body.
The resolutions were not listed on the FPZAI agenda nor were they discussed or approved by the PZASH board of trustees. In order to put an end to the controversy, PZASH decided to withdraw from the WAPIZ (World Alliance of Parsi Irani Zarthoshtis)-dominated FPZAI for a year.
