The ongoing discourse on the language of our prayers prompts me to share this snippet from a conversation I had with a fellow student, Paul, about 45 years ago.
I said, "I don’t even understand what my prayers mean; sometimes I wonder if it’s worth reciting them at all.” Paul responded: "Of course you must, even if you don’t understand a word; that’s what faith is all about.”
