Sunnu Golwalla’s review of the recently released Pakistani film, Actor in Law, (pictured) made for delightful reading ("Portraying a Parsi,” Parsiana, October 21, 2016). The reviewer, editor of What’s On, newsletter of the Karachi Zarthosti Banu Mandal, refers to the film as a triumph of new age Pakistani cinema.
Such news, a divergence from the destabilizing politics of a country absorbed in internal rift, is very welcome. It provides encouragement for skill and talent devoted to constructive human pursuits that are much more civilized than cross-border provocations, intrusive raids and an endangering agenda universally condemned as terrorism.
The film reflects a desire to cultivate an activity which for a change speaks of a commendable contribution to human endeavor, where merit is exhibited and acclaimed, where productive performance can be promoted and rightfully rewarded, where the state cares for development, not destruction!
