The Red Ink Award for Excellence in Indian Journalism 2013 for political writing, presented by the Press Club, Bombay was conferred on Nauzer Bharucha, senior editor at The Times of India (TOI), Bombay for his series of reports exposing irregularities in state irrigation projects to the tune of Rs 20,000 crore, TOI reported on May 26, 2013. Bharucha shared the award with Samanth Subramaniam of The Caravan.

The awards were handed over by Manish Tewari, union information and broadcasting minister, at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Bombay on May 25, 2013. Bharucha’s parents received the award on his behalf as he was out of town at the time, mentions TOI.
