A powerful film about a Parsi family in Gujarat during the Godhra riots, which premiered more than a year ago at Goa’s International Film Festival of India (IFFI), is still awaiting release. Made by Rahul Dholakia, the English-language film Parzania figured in the leaked National Awards list, but the accolades have yet to reach the film’s cast and crew, reported the Hindustan Times (November 30, 2006). Dholakia’s struggle with Parzania is now reaching journey’s end: he has decided to distribute the film himself via a tie-up with Serene Pictures Classics, he revealed at this year’s IFFI in Goa, in November 2006. Starring Naseeruddin Shah and Sarika, the film hopes to hit the marquee on January 26, 2007.
