History of genetic research

I am a faculty member at the University of Toronto specializing in the history of science. I am currently working on a project about the history of genetic research carried out on the Zoroastrian Parsi and Irani communities. In particular, I am interested in the G6PD deficiency research of Dr Jayantilal V. Undevia in the 1960s and 70s, and the fingerprint research of Dr Jamshed D. Mavalwala in the 1950s and 60s. I plan to visit India (Delhi, Bombay and Poona) from January to March 2024, when I hope to collect documents, photographs and oral histories related to Undevia and Mavalwala’s research. To this end I am searching for their family members, friends and co-workers, as well as former participants in their genetic studies. Anyone willing to contribute to this historical project may contact me by e-mail at e.burton@utoronto.ca and by WhatsApp on +1 8588827630. I will be happy to share more details about my research with anyone interested.  ELISE K. BURTON Toronto, Canada e.burton@utoronto.ca ...
