The WZO Trust Funds requests donations for the treatment of Dadar resident Roshan Bharucha who is suffering from a very rare type of blood cancer, Myelodyplasticity Syndrome (MDS) for which she requires stem cell transplant. She is a widow whose husband succumbed to liver cancer; the family had spent Rs 35,00,000 on his treatment.
So far nearly Rs 11,00,000 has been spent on the applicant’s treatment since her diagnosis in 2019. The Mediclaim amount of Rs 5,00,000 has long since been exhausted.
The treatment at Nanavati Hospital includes seven days of immunotherapy followed by 23 days of oral medication and monitoring, the estimated cost of which is Rs 24,00,000. In addition, the stem cell transplant will cost Rs 20,00,000 if the donor is a family member or Rs 50,00,000 if the donor is not a family member. Hence, the total would be Rs 44,00,000 in the former case and Rs 74,00,000 in the latter.
At the request of the family, the WZO Trust Funds has undertaken to collect donations on their behalf. Cheques in the name of "The WZO Trust Funds” may be sent to the Trust Office at C-1, Hermes House, 3rd Floor, Mama Parmanand Marg, Opera House, Mumbai 400004.
