In father’s footsteps

The small Parsi community in Hong Kong will now have another ordained priest in their midst. Ten-year-old Fravash Turel underwent his navar initiation at Dadar’s R. N. Rustom Faramna Agiary on Christmas and three days later, 14-year-old elder brother Ushaan completed his maratab training. "Both the boys are following the footsteps of their father, Ervad Kaiwan, who helps out in the prayers for the Zoroastrian Charity Funds of Hongkong, Canton and Macao,” notes an email from their mother Mehroo. Since he qualified as a navar in December 2015, Ushaan has participated in some jashans at the Zoroastrian House in Hong Kong as also in the navjote ceremonies of his brother and cousin.      Ushaan and Fravash Turel (3rd & 4th from l) with grandparents (from l)  Arnavaz Mistry, Aspi and Kashmira Turel   Residing in Hong Kong for the last seven years, Ushaan is studying in the 10th year while Fravash is in the sixth at the ESF International Schools. Ushaan’s favorite subject is science and he plays football and rugby for his school team and club. Fravash enjoys rugby as also running, bicycling and reading. He plays the clarinet in the school orchestra and takes an active part in dramatics. ...
