Dr Freny Ratan Marshall, the good gynecologist who passed away on March 23, 1996, is still remembered affectionately by the people of Surat and inmates of Nariman Home and Infirmary because of her love for the unfortunate and her humanitarian work. Every year, in her memory, inter-school competitions are held in various educational institutions managed by the Surat Parsi Panchayat (SPP) , informs her husband, Dr Ratan Marshall, in a write-up. In the last such competition 240 students from all communities participated and 55 of them were awarded prizes at a function presided over by Jamshed Dotivala, the famed baker, and SPP trustee. The dedicated team works efficiently under the leadership of trustee Zenobia Engineer.

Literary awards are also given in memory of the dedicated doctor for works of benefit to women and children. On January 19, 2007, under the joint auspices of Marwad Sahithya Sabha and Jeevan Bharati, Freny Marshall medals were presented to Harish Nayak and Jaswant Kadikar for their outstanding literary works by Bhagwati Kumar Sharma, noted literary figure who presided over the function, informs Marshall. ...
