Anjuman’s 119

On the occasion of the 119th salgirah of the Anjuman Atash Behram in Bombay on September 8, 2016, its high priest Dastur Kaikhusroo JamaspAsa was felicitated on having completing 60 years of service to the fire temple. JamaspAsa had become head priest of the Atash Behram on October 9, 1956, notes a write-up on the event sent to Parsiana by solicitor Ervad Burjor Antia, who is honorary secretary of the trust that manages the fire temple.          (Top, l-r): Phiroze Katrak, Noshir Kotwal, Dastur Kaikhusroo JamaspAsa,   Ervad Burjor Antia; jashan     Commending JamaspAsa’s commitment, Antia averred that the community has survived for the last 1,300 years because of proper guidance from our high priests from the days of Dasturs Neriyosang Dhaval and the earlier JamaspAsas. The current JamaspAsa was garlanded and presented a shawl to thunderous applause. His wife, Dr Bakhtawar Dastur was also presented flowers. Earlier that day their son, Nayab Dastur Jamasp JamaspAsa had led jashans performed at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., attended by many priests and laypersons. Hundreds of devotees visited the flower bedecked and chalk decorated Atash Behram during the course of the day and several partook of the chasni after the felicitation, the write-up notes. ...
