Dr Jimmy Sidhva has enriched the lives of so many people in so many ways ("Sidhva’s sterling skills,” Parsiana, April 7-20, 2024). As Bombay’s foremost radiologist, he has x-rayed many members of our community over the years. It was unthinkable to go to any other radiologist between the 1960s to the 2000s.
I was fortunate to have been his patient in the late 1970s, when he performed a barium test on me and detected a small ulcer which had remained undiagnosed for many years. He painstakingly explained my condition and reassured me that I would be fine. He graciously waived his entire fee as I was not well-off. I forever bless him for his expertise, kindness and generosity.
As the star of the Parsi doctors’ nataks, he captured the hearts of the public. We would wait eagerly for his arrival on stage (he would invariably be greeted with enthusiastic applause) and would entertain us for hours. It is impossible to think of those nataks without him.

I was amazed by Sidhva’s versatility when he started a weekly newspaper column on the Gathas. Later he compiled these into books which I obtained (free of cost) from him. I believe that the sale of the books funded the charity trust that he set up. He provided me with financial assistance from his trust for my children’s higher education. FRAMROZE GHEEWALA
