A case of domestic violence stresses the need for greater
awareness and support for mental health issues

In the aftermath of three videos depicting a Parsi mother threatening, verbally abusing, slapping and belting her 13-year-old daughter and nine-year-old son that went viral on social media, the police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the parents of the children on July 9, 2024. The police have booked them under section 75 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act which deals with cruelty towards children, and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, according to news reports.
