A case of domestic violence stresses the need for greater awareness and support for mental health issues

In the aftermath of three videos depicting a Parsi mother threatening, verbally abusing, slapping and belting her 13-year-old daughter and nine-year-old son that went viral on social media, the police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the parents of the children on July 9, 2024. The police have booked them under section 75 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act which deals with cruelty towards children, and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, according to news reports. Maybe a very silly suggestion from me, but if families have good social interaction with those around them and a reasonable income, mental health could be improved.
In Canada they have community events every week, starting with zumba, a talk and light refreshment, usually in a park. Let baugs encourage activities suitable for their people. It could create bonding and a support system. TV serial "Oolta Chashma" maybe a mind jogger!
