I agree entirely with B. T. Dastur’s views in "Parsis are poor readers” (Readers’ Forum, Parsiana, December 7, 2015). The remark made by actress Emilia Clarke: "Be suspicious of a man whose TV is larger than his library” is true to some extent about members of the community.
At the age of 83 I am a regular reader of literature of the past and the history of Iran. I also write letters for publication in the Parsi Press. I have a small library in my house, to suit my requirements. Many Parsis today depend more on tablets for information rather than reading books. Like Dastur, I feel the next generation will suffer as a consequence. They should start reading more. I say: "Reading an hour a day will keep the doctor away!”
