Lions Club member Viraf Mistry (pictured) "has created history by winning the Lions elections in the very first attempt with a thumping majority by securing 124 out of 195 votes,” noted an email from veteran Club member Capt Percy Master. Mistry has been elected as second vice district governor of Lions Clubs International, District 3231 A1 in the fifth annual district convention held on April 10, 2022. "Never before has there been such a huge margin of two-third majority,” Master wrote. "It’s a matter of great pride not only for our community but for the society at large.”
A corporate trainer, Mistry is an alumnus of St Mary’s School and H. R. College. With his home Club of Bombay South, Mistry has held various positions within the Lions from 2005 onwards. Parents Lily and Keki are active Club members too. Viraf is a Melvin Jones Fellow within the Club. The Fellowship is the backbone of the Lions Club International Foundation, notes their website. "Presented to those who donate USD 1,000 to the Foundation or to people for whom a donation was made by others, it’s a tremendous contribution to humanity and to the legacy of our founder, Melvin Jones.”
