In her letter "Wadia and the wards” (Readers’ Forum, Parsiana, February 7, 2019), Mehroo S. Kharegat has shared wonderful memories of Dr Jehangir Wadia (pictured, Photo: Laughter in the House), maternal grandfather of my sister Dilnawaz Bana, brother Sarosh Bana and myself.
We are very glad that she has written such an important and positive letter about him. Most people who knew our grandfather have passed away and only a few can recall his plays. Our efforts to revive these plays have not been successful because not many people today understand Parsi Gujarati and the topics do not appeal to the present generation.
There was a photograph of our grandfather hanging on the wall of the conference room in The B. D. Petit Parsee General Hospital which we garlanded each year on his birth anniversary. Some years ago, when we went there to garland the photograph, we found that it had been removed. The new administration had decided to remove all old photographs, including this one.
