The other contestants were Cyrus Irani (43 votes), Roozbeh Hormuzdiyar (37) and Shapoor Irani (seven).
A total of 123 votes were cast at the Sir J. J. Parsi Benevolent Institution on Dr Dadabhai Naoroji Road. Three votes were invalid. Eight candidates contested the five Bombay seats on the 28-member GB. No elections were held for the other 23 seats from other 18 or 19 cities of Iran as the number of candidates and the number of seats was the same.
Their voter registration list of about 1,139 had several names without addresses. The IZA has still to devise a system to ensure that the list is up-to-date and comprehensive.
